For further information call Stephen Field Regional Manager 0417342332 or email sfield@cricketvictoria.com.au The final Diamonds in the Rough session was held at the Warrnambool Indoor Cricket Ce ntre on September the 4th. The session ended on a good note with Stephen Gibson smashing a lofted off drive through the net and into the glass door at the cricket centre(the glass now needs to be replaced). We had a good session on the bowling machine with short balls, moving into the ball when we were confident from the cut shot to the fully blown pull shot. After a few bruises and rubber marks on our helmets we had a break and got into some advanced fielding. We left our gear on and started a new drill. Stephen would hit a tennis ball with a racquet at one person very close to him and the rest of us had to try and catch the ball if they missed or when it ricoched off them. After more bruises and helmet marks we had another break. We started back on the bowling machine now on drives. We had the machine cranked up to 80 miles an hour so it was really eye opening stuff. We finished off the session bowling to each other and practising lofted shots. On the final ball of the entire day Gibbo needed 4 runs to win and he smashed it into the window for 6. Players are now concentrating on the up and coming selection trials in September.
